40 Rokkor Lens Pulls Up 40 AND 50 Frame Lines On Leitz CL?

I just received my Rokkor 40 2.0 lens from KEH today (BGN grade and as usual w/ KEH it looks nearly mint) and it is pulling up the 40 AND the 50 frame lines on my Leitz Minolta CL. Is this normal, or do I have an odd camera or something? I don't have another 40 lens to try on it, but the 50 DR pulls up the 50 frame lines like it should, and the 90 Elmar pulls up the 90 lines (both leave up the 40's all the time like they should), so it seems to be working OK w/ the other lenses.

This is completely normal. The 50mm lines disappear only when you mount a 90mm

Ah, thanks very much for clearing that up. It's a great little lens, and much smaller and lighter than the DR, but I am not confident the Rokkor's IQ is going to beat the DR. Will run a roll through both of them and see what happens.

The 40/2 Rokker is a virtual duplicate of the 40/2 Summicron C made for the CL. Later versions of the Rokkor were multicoated vs. the 2-3 coatings of the first versions. Edwin Putts once did a comparisnn ( in the 1970's) of the Rokkor vs 'cron and found they were indistinguishable. Quite a feat considiering the 40/2 Summicron was a stellar performer some felt was better than the 50/2 'cron of that time.

I loved the Summicron-C and think it is one of the best Leica glasses and at the averave going price, one of the all time great bargains. If a Cron 50mm is better I'm not good enough to see the diffreence.
