thanks for sharing Joe, like the colors of second pair. from the samples cv please my eye better, but difference is small and could not identify which comes from which.

I'm not sure there's much of a difference. The spike captures are very alike. Both in and out of focus areas are surprisingly alike in character. The post picture would however suggest that you got the focus wrong on the Sonnar, somewhat in front of the post. The metalwork is not quite as sharp, and the off side of the post is completely out of focus, whereas the whole width and depth of the post is in focus on the CV shot. Either that or the Sonnar front focuses somewhat. DoF should be equal.

Just now had a chance to look at these. I see that they are very similar, just Sonnar looks much warmer. After seeing these I think now, even more so than before that little CV 40/1.4 is a superb value for the money.
But please do post more of those Sonnar pics, I like what you get with it. Yours are probably my favorites I could fine on the web so far from this lens.
