I've realised that one of the reasons I don't use my upgraded M8 (framelines, shutter, screen) that often is because the crop doesn't give me an accurate 50mm lense.
So... I bought a Summicron 40mm - 53.2mm equivalent: close enough! I've read that alot of people use this lense happily on the M8 with the 35mm framelines. HOWEVER, with the new, updated, accurate-at-2m M8u/M8.2 famelines, is the 35mm still considered a pretty good fit?
What do people do?
Cheers in advance...

The original M8 framelines will definitely be a better fit for the 40mm framelines. I use that lens on mine and find it a brilliant combo. I have a Kontur 50mm finder I use as well - very close in terms of coverage, but the parallax correction is obviously better in the camera finder.
More than happy to swap your inferior downgraded M8 for my untouched original (had a go of an M8.2...and that shutter is way improved.)

I found that my 40mm Summicron is almost 100% accurate with 35 frame line on original M8, from 1,5m to infinity.

My sister has a Voitlander 40 mm f 1.4 and we modified the frame selection tab on the lens to call the 35 mm frame on her M8 instead of the 50 mm frame. Works perfect, as it does also for her M6.
40 is closer to 35 than to 50 isn't it ?
