Hi,

I am looking for a 40mm UV filter for my lovely screw mount 25mm F3.5 lens.
The lens is actually well recessed but I would like a filter to keep dust and moisture out.
Anyone know of a company/shop who sells such a rare filter fitting?

Cheers,

Fluff

40mm filters are pretty hard to find in the USA, and I think that our esteemed moderator Kim Coxon has said the same about availability in the UK. You could either buy some used ones from eBay, or get a 40mm to 40.5mm step-up ring, such as those sold by eBay seller heavystar for 6 USD. I have one of the heavystar rings, and they are very nice quality. UV filters in 40.5 mm size are a lot easier to find.

I don't know about being esteemed but the Canon 25 does provide a problem. Many normal 40mm filters cause a problem with the 25 because of vignetting. Canon produced some extra thin ones without the front focus ring. There are very difficult to find but I may just be able to help. Send me a PM and I will see what I can do. (I just happen to have a set of 5 Canon 40mm filters available 😉 )
