Say it isn't so !
So much for "stealth".
I ordered through Amazon, specified a BLACK ring, and was sent a silver/chrome. When I called the retailer Amazon farmed this out to they stated the filter ws only available with the silver ring. Of course, no one called.
I could always return it.
Is it time to get out the paint pen ?

Looking at a black one right in front of me. Now, if I only had an M8 to use it on.

Which one did you order? I need the same size for my Nokton 40 1.4. I just got my used M8 today and one of the first pics I took showed some purple blacks!

I bought the B&W. It cost $54 and a few bucks shipping.

The ones designated "Digital Pro" are silver; the ones called "F-Pro" are black.
I believe Leica used to make a black one --- but now only silver is on the price list.

What an odd situation. I have to go back a long time to when silver rings were used. Everything is black.

What lens are you using it on? The 50/1.4 1st version, the one with the separate vented hood, the hood will not fit over any filter except the Leica brand (actually, the current filter has a groove around it and the hook clips to that). I transplanted the glass from a Heliopan 43mm IR filter into the mount from a black Leica e43 UV. Oddly the glass was a bit too big and I had to sand down the edge almost a half millimeter. I think the B+W 486 glass would be a direct fit though.

Hmm, is this the case for vintage e39 lenses as well, such as the Summicron 50/2 Rigid, the Summaron 35/2.8, the Elmar 50/2.8, the Summicron 35/2, etc.? Those all take clip-on hoods such as the 12585, IROOA, ITDOO, ITOOY, etc.

I have no experience with IR filters.
But in order to use B+W UV filter on ZM or voigtlander lens, it seesm that only the silver digital pro series can really fit into the lens perfectly. F-pro can only fit in half way.

I'm using it on the ZM 35mm Biogon. Oddly, this filter ring uses an internal ring as well, part of its design. Could have some sort of a retaining ring effect ??????

I have a spare B+W 43 486 UV IR MRC filter that I don't use as I got a free silver Leica one with the M8.2. The lenshood of the 50/1.4 ASPH Lux (which is a clip-on as it's the LHSA version) slides over the filter ring with no problem but slides back off! - there is no retaining grove such as there is on the Leica version.
