4x5 E6 - Yikes!

My biggest RF is a Speed Graphic. With my good old 127/4.7 mounted I get very good RF results from the old girl. Recently I bought the last 10 sheet box of Velvia 50 that my FLCS had in stock. I have almost never shot E6 and never before in 4x5. I slowly burned through it, even doing the last two shots handheld of my son playing in his sandbox...

Oh, my... a 4 inch by 5 inch transparency on alight table is un-freaking-real. Now none of these shots are anything special, but the learning experience means I'll be happy to try it again. When you consider about $4 - $5 dollars a shot (film + dev) that is saying something.

(BTW - anyone looking for a Lab, I can happily recommend Burne Photo Imaging of Madison, WI. http://www.burne.com $2.25 per E6 sheet of 4x5. That is the least expensive I've found and they are wonderful to deal with - Mr. Burne took my checkout today for one slight example and helped me look through those 10 sheets on a light table. They are happy to take mailed in film. Their prices on 135 and 120 aren't as good, but it would be hard to beat their 4x5 price...)

That sounds wonderful.

Robert White's site says that Velvia 50 4x5 is discontinued, and replaced with Velvia 100. And they have other E6's in 4x5 too.

Can you use Polaroid film in your camera? Then scan and print?

Yes, the 50 is discontinued. I bought the box I did simply because it had an unreal reputation so I figured that even if I never shoot LF E-6 again, I'd have something to talk about. I'd say that idea was right (!),

I'll probably look for something a bit faster next time, though. A bit less saturated too, though nothing I shot got overwhelmed. More a taste thing than anything else...
