I remembered I took a few shots with the 50 1.5 at the Science and Industry Museum in Chicago. If the 1.1 is as good as the 1.5 then it's going to be a monster lens. Here's one from the 1.5, wide open low light:

That's a nice shot!
The 50mm Nokton often gets side tracked as it's not of premium pedigree and has an aperture of 1.5 instead of 1.4. Shame..
Cheers,

It is truly a shame as the Nokton 50f1.5 is a bit of a cutting edge optical design. It was the first time someone put two aspherical surfaces on the same element. It is a sharper lens than the Pre-Asph Summilux and I suspect that in that "Leica" snob appeal that occasionally clouds common sense. "Oh, it can be any good as it is only $400!!!". Big mistake, it is a "kick butt" good lens - and the fact that it is a screwmount, means that those of us who still have "Barnack" Leicas around now has access to a modern, high performance lens for these cameras (or Canon 7's).
I also have it in Nikon SC mount and it will actually give the Millenium 50f1.4 a run for its money.
The new 50f1.1 has some characteristics similar to the 50f1.5 - with very good center sharpness throughout the aperture range. I have only shot 5-6 rolls with the f1.1 versus 100's if not 1000's with the f1.5 so not enough "data" to work from here - and truth be told - almost everything I shot with the f1.1 was at f1.1 - not because I needed too, but because I could!!!

more or less the epitome of sharpness.I remembered I took a few shots with the 50 1.5 at the Science and Industry Museum in Chicago. If the 1.1 is as good as the 1.5 then it's going to be a monster lens. Here's one from the 1.5, wide open low light:

I concur 100%. I have the 50mm f/1.5 Nokton and it is tack sharp, and the OOF elements are pleasing. If I buy the 1.1 I may still keep the 1.5.

I like the Nokton 50/1.5 too.

the 1.5/50 was the first lens I bought and I don't intend to sell it or give it away.
I often use it without the hood when I don't see a big risk of flare, it is actually pretty small!

too bad, the new Nokton is 1m closest focus and 58mm filter. It would have been better at 0.5m and the "normal" 52mm in exchange for a lower aperture. I have been waiting for the another 50mm Nokton, however I dont think I will purchase the new Nokton

Looks like his mom:

The above was taken with a 90/2.8 Elmarit.
My contribution to the thread, one of my older 50/1.5 Nokton pictures (lens is long gone now):

Cheers,
Roland.
