The S-42 is hard to find. An easier choice would be a 40 to 40.5 adapter and 40.5 hood from Heavystar. There's also the square metal hood with 42mm press-on fitting made by Canon for the 1.8 Serenar.
The "best" hood, if you're not embarrased by it's size, is the Canon rectangular one for the 50/1.8 and 35/2.8.
None at KEH at the moment, but they do have several of the slightly smaller one for the 50/1.9. I have no personal experience with how well it works on the 50/1.8.

Thanks guys great options, i would like the s-42 hood if i cant get one i will try the 40-40.5 option, there are one or two of the square hoods on the bay at the moment but they are a little big for my likeing.And for those who might be interested there are two s-50 hoods on ebay uk at the moment.
