I disagree with that being the way to shop on ebay (ie: low feedback=do not bid). Seller sold mostly leica stuff in the past, probably rarely uses ebay. Paypal covers 100% so up to you...but do what you want. 🙂

Best way to find out, send a note to the seller with clear and specific questions about the camera. Seems legit to me, and probably one who doesn't like wasting time (his current auctions are for expensive items and so are the past ones for which he got feedback).

I dealt once with an eBayer like this. In an e-mail sent to someone else, he even lambasted the person inquiring about the camera for sale saying something along the lines of "you don't know enough about this camera to say anything"... and I was wondering whether I could pull my bid on a Nikon F5... when I won it.

The guy turned out to be quite congenial. I sent payment, he was quick at keeping me updated about the shipping and the camera came in just two days all the way from CA to IL. Early in December 2007, I think.

So, appearances are deceiving. I think this guy is legit. If I had that much cash (or a chance to pay for it) I'd swing a bid.

Good luck! 🙂

ive noticed a lot, relatively to up to recently, of M9s up for salethe past couple weeks. i'm wondering if somehow the pending fuji/olly/nex7 trifecta are somehow effecting M9 owners's feeling for the value of their equipment?

I remember seeing an ad for a 50mm DR Summicron a few years back where the seller said he was prepared to answer questions about the lens but anyone refering to it as a 'Cron' would be ignored and their bids not accepted! 😀

Yea possibly, but users who want a real digital rangefinder (FF), have no other option. This is the best price ive ever seen on an M9, plus 2% cashback through ebay vip bucks program. ($100)

$4930 shipped in theory.

It's a pity the seller hasn't gone to the trouble of actually desribing the camera personally ... and offering info like the shutter count etc.

Ask the seller for a phone number, then ring him up and ask him a bunch of questions only a leica shooter would know.

But yeah, I would never bid on something for 5k from someone with 7 feedback! The best way to work ebay is if you can afford to loose the cash you can bid on it. I doubt many people here would want to risk 5k!

I would email the seller and ask for a description of condition, history, have him send a dng file to check the actuations, etc, especially when there is no original description. You're buying online, all we have are our words, and I can usually get a sense of a seller this way. Almost 9 years on ebay, this has served me well.
