Hi,
i have bought a 50mm f1.8 lens, version II, that is born for digital camera, but i know that is compatible with EOS EF mount.
But... a lens born for digital how work with film?
There are some degradation in Image Quality?

Great little lens. I use it on film with super results.
Green light all the way.

My question is regarding the quality of the final shot, if i use an old lens born for film... will be better or worse respect to my 50mm born for digital?

Well-known
That lens was introduced in 1990, well before you could buy a digital Canon SLR. It is optically the same as the EF 50/1.8 mark I - it only got a plastic outside, the glass is supposed to be the same. (there is a recent version with an STM focussing motor, it also is supposed to be the same, but it might be a recalculated version)
A good lens is a good lens, on film or on digital. Don't worry about that lens, it is a good one, on both film and digital. The requirements for digital and film differ slightly, but not enough to be worried about it. Just enjoy that lens, I used it with great success on both film and digital.
This is on film:

Canon EOS 3000n | Canon 50/1.8 II | Agfa APX 100
This is on digital:

Canon EOS 30D | Canon 50/1.8 II | f/2 | 1/160s | 100iso

Very good this lens!
Now i'm evaulating if sell the Takumar SMC 1.8 or not... some describe it as a very superb lens, but i don't know if the Canon 50mm 1.8 it's better or not.
