50mm DR Summicron Goggles

The problem is that there are two types of goggles for the DR Summicron, which are not interchangeable ... so buying goggles separately is try and error. Also if they are of the correct type they might not fit 100% correctly (focus).

Agree, Gabor. However, the seller specifies the google type (newer version, kursives Logo, kein "Wappen").

Good to know ! :) Now a potential buyer only needs to figure out, which version is required. I think the switchover was in the 2.2xx.xxx SN# region ...

Here is from the head bartender:

"Earlier DR's have a single feet or meter focusing scale, and clip on eyes with the E. Leitz enlarger condenser logo, as shown on the top photo of this page, and focus to 19." Later DR's have a dual feet and meter focusing scale, with a simpler Leitz logo, and focus to 20."

PS: it took me forever to find the right googles for my DR when I still had it .... These days I have a rigid Summicron, no such issues :)

Doesn't that same article mention that the newer version also works with earlier version of the lens? But not the reverse. I either read that somewhere, or I'm dreming. Verification would be great.

ahhh! finally!! This has bugged me forever! My DR is 2279xxx and the goggles have never fit very well. The goggles have Leitz in script with WETZLER underneath. So they are mismatched Roland??

Double (red/black) or single focusing scale on the lens ?

Double red / black here:

When I twist the lens to move to the shorter focusing scale, I have to hold the goggles in such a way to compress the ball bearing (hold it almost in a halfway position). Once the lens focus ring turns freely the goggles can be pushed against the frame of the camera but are definitely loose. Is this the common experience? Thanks in advance Roland.

Hey, I'm actually the one selling the goggles linked in the first post. I wish I could say that this thread has brought on lots of interested buyers, but as of now they're still available. I hope I'm not breaking some rule or rules by posting this. I'm also willing to ship them if you're not in the NY area.

When I bought my DR it came with the wrong goggles, but I didn't know that. I tried to fix it myself, but couldn't make it work (by adjusting by trial and error the RF side of it.) Only then did I read the cameraquest article, and then bought the right one. I've since traded away the DR and now I have the other goggles (script) but no lens. Like you I'd rather have the Rigid. Someday...
