'Just got a nice clean copy and took it out for a spin at the local lakefront on M240. It's coated and it has the modern f stop scale, so I'm guessing early 50s.
All hand held, available light, although the evening/night shots were at max ISO.
Thanks Steve! I was stunned when I first looked at the images. 'Had to double check the sharpening 'cause I thought maybe I boosted it by mistake, but there's hardly any on at all. It's just that this little lens is surprisingly sharp and has excellent tones, at least for my taste.
I feel like I've seen literally thousands of images made with this type of lens, but I wasn't prepared for what I got. 'Was expecting more compromised image quality, like maybe softer corners or smearing or kinda unsharp or even odd colors. What a pleasant surprise!
Thanks! I don't know if it had been cleaned or just kept in a really good environment. I couldn't see any signs of it having been opened. The giveaway for me is the image of three lighted lampposts. I would expect a much more pronounced halo around the lights if there were any fog, haze or coating degradation.
I'm sure there are plenty of other nice examples of this lovely lens that are in great condition or that could easily be restored to it with a good cla.
