Been reading on the post regarding 50mm lense, Canon f/1.2, f/1.4, f/1.5 etc
Thinking about getting a 50mm for a M2, and always wanted a fast 50mm sonnar (Jena or Zeiss Opton) but the price of the adapter (found SOME in HK, which are about $475 USD, which is silly). what about the Serenar f/1.5? Do they deliver like a Contax Sonnar? Do they match up with the M (actual focal lenghts for the 50s). Will it be a "money well spent" kind of lense?

The Canon 50/1.5 is my favorite lens. I carry it along with a 50 Summicron at all times. I think it have a very true "Sonnar Signature." Prices seem to be down currently for this lens so the time may be right to buy. Some recently have sold for less than $300 on ebay. It is very well made, as good as 1950s Leitz lenses and better than anything produced today by anyone. It is 100% compatible with Leica LTM and M (with adaptor) cameras.
Money well spent? In my eyes yes.

I was wondering why my LTM Jupiter 3 and 8 would not focus at infinity. It's good at f/4. Maybe I'd better stick to the Canon and Leitz glass.

I am lucky then to own a Sonnar in LTM. Still, it cost me more than expected.

Since you mentioned wanting a 1.5 Sonnar, my vote would be for the Canon 1.5. As Brian mentioned, it's a Sonnar formula, and very well made. I own both Contax and Canon, and they are different. Both good, but not the same. Hard to put in words, but can be seen.
The good part is that you can probably pick up a Canon 1.5, try it, and not loose anything on a resale. The way the market is tightening up, you may even garner a profit on the trial. OTOH, I think you will find keeping the lens.
I've been watching the Contax lately, and the action there is pretty solid. The SLR's, all brands, seem to be harder hit than our RF's with the digital switch. Look at what has happened with the P and now the V-series. I bought a nice P a few years ago for less than 1/2 the market today... and I paid high!
To sum up, if you're still awake, the Canon seems to fit your needs, and is affordable. Don't jump, they are around, and you can find a good one. Someone here might have one for sale.
