50mm Summarit w/ adapter sold for OMG...

Yes, the Summarit was available with an M-mount and its not that rare. It looks to me like two bidders entered extremely high snipes at the last second thinking that nobody would be insane enough to top them.

I've done that, but I faked a high bid by just bidding to get to get to be the high bidder, without overpaying mind you. Then I would put a $5.00 more bid in within seconds...appearing to others that I increased my MAX bid by a larger margin. It has worked too...Sometimes, I may put another $5.00 increase near the 15mim mark. 😀

People seem to be going nuts, last week I saw a 50mm Summar in OK good condition sell for - I think it was high $300's......wow. I cannot confirm as I was so shocked that I deleted the entry in my eBay. I really thought that was way way over anything I would consider paying for one - although I quite like its character.

Well, it wás a complete set on sale. And, from the comments on that auction I feel one of the bidders was possibly bidding on commission, so not spending his own money. And, the serial number is very nice if you're into that kind of thing: 1418418.

Still a bucket full of cash though.

Camera West has a Midland Summarit for $1195, and it is a rather scarce version of this lens, even as a screw mount. It's probably fairly early production from that factory.

Yes, that`s a fairly pretty rare Leica M lens from the 1950's $700 was a very good price!

I've only seen maybe 5 or 6 of these in the past 15/20 years.....the M version is much rarer than the SM "Midland" well, both are rare and collectable. ~ a perfect lens for a "Midland" M3 😀 ~ There was one of those sold here at RFF about a year ago as I remember?

Indeed a good price for the lens. When I was looking for a Summarit in the end of last year, there were a few Midland versions on eBay in the price range of $995 to $1395 (USD).
