So I recently bought a 50mm DR off of ebay. It has near perfect opticals, but it does have a bit of a rattle to it. If you have a DR, follow along...
You know the front part of the lens that can be unscrewed from the "base" of the lens? That front part has some play to it... It wiggles... and kind of rattles.
Is this a common problem? Is there an easy fix?

On DR's - always check that the serial number on the lenshead is the same as the one on the fcussing mount. When you unscrew the lenshead - the number is engraved or scratched in to the inside flange of the lensmount. DR's were more or less "hand assembled" and checked multiple times at the factory before being shipped out. If the wrong head is put on the mount - there can be a bit of play in it. Occasionally I have encountered DR's with an extra shim in the mount too.
It is not a lens that should rattle - it is one of the most solidly built of Leica's lenses.
