50mm Summilux asph ?!?!

I have had the 50mm Lux ASPH silver for some months now. Very impressed. I have only ever had this 50mm.

My question, would I be as well off with the new summicron 50? Provided i am willing to lose a stop.

Probably. I had the Summicron before I bought the Summilux. I wanted the extra stop. I felt that the Summicron flared a bit more too, but it was probably a more even performer in the big picture, not that you could really tell.

The Summicron is excellent in it's own right, but not quite as good wide open as the Summilux is at 2.0- If you're not printing huge you won't care. Signature is a bit different, the Summicron is a tad flatter, with different bokeh, but not really "old-fashioned" bokeh like the pre-ASPH's.

Tiny in comparison too.
