How rare is it to find black M6 TTL .58 viewfinders and what is the usual going price for them?

I currently have a black M6 TTL but it's with a .72 viewfinder and i'd really like a .58 viewfinder for easier 28mm framelines. I was spoiled with the ZI i had a year ago and i want the 'clarity' or at least closest possible thing i can get to it.

My .72 is great but (a) it doesnt have the MP upgrade and (b) it seems a little cramped.

Also, anyone had experience with getting a technician to swap out the VF mag to a .58?

Ah ok. Sweet. I asked him what color it was. He replied back (almost instantly) that is was chrome.

You think chrome and black versions sell for about the same price?

dag will keep your name on a list if you want to arrange a viewfinder magnification swap. only thing you pay for is exchanging parts, about $80 i think.

leica doesn't sell rangefinder units to third party repairmen anymore, and last i heard (in the mid 00s) it cost about $600. they also replace the viewfinder window to show the correct magnification label.

i'm going to do the viewfinder magnification swap at the end of this year, along with changing the leatherette to vulkanit. i wear glasses and .72 is too cramped for 35mm and 28mm.

I guess the OP isn't in the UK but for what it's worth 0.58 TTLs are currently around GBP 1000.00 in the UK. They've actually gone up a touch (and I mean black ones). Three years ago I bought one to pair with a 0.58 M7 and paid GBP 899.00 which I think was a damn good price.

Highly recommended if you are a glasses wearer or want better sight of the 28 frame lines.

Are you sure? I asked sherry krauter and she replied saying it was going to cost me a ton of money to do it. Said it was more worth it to sell and buy a new camera.

If it's only about 80 dollars then hell ill get it done to this camera.

Also, how do they do it? He swaps it out with another camera? If it costs $600 to get a new rangefinder unit, they have to wait until they have a .58 in stock I am guessing?

I need a new rewind crank too for my film (mine is bent) but it looks like that tiny piece alone is going to cost me a hundred bucks. Crazy. :\
