5N Video Sound?

How loud should the sound be on a 5N in video playback mode? Filming indoors, should it be as loud as you hear it when recording (for example, one person facing the camera and speaking)? My new 5N in playback is barely audible with the volume control set as high as possible.

I noticed the same, but the playback volume is fine once they're on the computer. Maybe it's just a terrible speaker?

Same with my Nikon D90. It's because you're using a speaker about 3/8" across (I know it's small, but I haven't cracked open my camera to investigate 😱). Playback on a computer should be fine.

If you're really worried, you should be using an external recorder with a shotgun (hyper-cardioid) mike while listening through the recorder (to make sure of levels) and sync them together later. I'd get specific, but I haven't looked at exactly what to get since I was in college (2006), so I'm sure 90 percent of what I learned is worthless now. If only the debt was worthless :bang:.
