6-bit coding of 35/f1.4 Summilux 11860 and 135/f4.0 Tele-Elmar

Hi there.

I would like to manually code a

Summilux 35mm/f1.4 11860 and a
Tele-Elmar 135mm/f4.0

Anybody out there that know what these codes look like?

I've been searching all around that I know for a pic of them with no luck so I'd be very happy if somebody here could help out.

Quick question: is there any difference between manual selection (M9) and the automatic recognising from the actual 6-bit-code on the lens? Or is coding just important for M8 users and those who don't want to change it in camera everytime they change the lens?

There are no codes for those lenses. The Summilux you can code as another Summilux 35. There is no technical difference between manual and automatic on the M9 except for lenses like the ApoTelyt 135 which has no 6-bit code. But manual is a lot less practical....

Indeed it is. As I'm a dozy sucker when it comes to remember setting the lens manually I go wrong half the time.:bang:😕:bang:

Well, as a student it's better to extend the workflow 1 step than spending 150 bucks on each of the three lenses to code 🙂

mine is coded as a summilux 35 asph, seems fine. the cost in europe was about euro 88 including tax and return postage. if you are in the u.s., you might check with any of the prominent CLA specialists.

I spent GBP1 on a pack of 4 sharpies from Asda (Walmart) and did all my lenses myself. Still working OK at the moment.

Every time I switched lens and forgot to change the manual code was worth more than the pack of sharpies in lost opportunity🙂

Ok, convinced. Just read the tutorial and given the fact that all my exams are through by tomorrow I now have something to work on 🙂
