...and 4 to go!

rolls of films, that is.

i just developed 6 rolls of hp5 in ddx and have 4 more to do this weekend.

i cannot read negs well but at first glance it seems the zm negs are nice and contrasty, more so than i am used to.

drying now...

Interesting Joe, I'm will be using DD-X as soon my TMAX is gone for souping my HP5. Would be very intersted the the results.

when tmax came out i tried it, both film & chemicals, and did not care for it much.

i much preferred delta and ilfosol s and then on to ddx.

i may go back to delta 400 and 3200 with ddx.

I quite liked the results with TMY (400) and TMAX, a tad contrasty but hey, I live in England which is grey/foggy/misty/rain/cold and any contrast is a bonus :)

Think I prefer Delta also.

2 rolls of Delta 3200 swam in DDX for me this morning. I should go cut sleeve and press them so they will be ready for scanning in the morning.

what did you rate it at?

i like 1000 maybe 1600 if i need the speed.

I shot at the full 3200, I needed/wanted the speed. I the negs look pretty well exposed, I will scan them in the morning.

Generally I have found DDX to be pretty sharp and it is very easy to use mixing 4+1 out of the bottle.

I just scanned some Plus X this morning. Man that stuff is smooth. I really like it a lot.

I liked my TMX in Rodinal, but I'm going to have to remember to add a bit more time onto it...people are right when they say that those P&S shots are a bit flat tone-wise. I was surprised at how low the grain was...1:100 is really good for that, I think.

Shot at 8.30 this morning.

HP5+ (at 400), souped this evening in DD-X 1+4 for 9 minutes, one inversion every 30 seconds.

Stephanie - yes, diluting Rodinal will reduce grain. 1+50 is popular because you don't need a giant tank to hit that dilution. But 1+100 is even lower grain.

Even more so than other films, the tonality of D3200 changes dramatically as you go from 1250-3200. From 3200 up it's about the same. I will shoot it at 1600 when I want a relatively low contrast result. Worked very well at a wedding I was at.

After we made it into the restricted areas of Alcatraz, I took my 4 rolls of 120, 2 rolls of 35, and 7 more rolls of 120 from friends and souped them all in just 4 sessions. I double rolled the 120 onto reels, and did at least 2 tanks per session, sometimes in different developers and at different times. That was pretty crazy.

Interesting. I've always considered HP5 a low contrast film. I'm curious to see your results. I was disappointed with HP5 when I first got back into film as I could never get enough punch out of it. I just souped a roll in Rodinal and am hoping to scan the negs tomorrow. I got a bunch of rolls of HP5 left over and am hoping that I'll like it souped in Rodinal.

Without looking at the labels, I can easily spot the HP5 from the Plus-X I just developed. The HP5 is much more gray ;)

I love that shot, Andy. Great tones on that - very appropriate to the scene.

Thanks Allan. It isn't finished yet, this is only a quick neg scan I did to show the results from HP5+ in DD-X 1+4. I'm hoping to have time to get in the DR tonight and make a finished print.

Andy I like that shot too - really very nice. I have some HP5+ here and maybe I need a change from Neopan all the time... I have HC-110 for dev, hmmm.

Was there a message in the bottle? ;)
