Anyone Olympus Pen F crazy enough to have this lens?

(I DO LOOOVE FAST TELEPHOTOS...)

I sold one on Ebay for a very good price. Picked it up at an antique store, but the camera body next to it was jammed. so I never tried it out.

I am aware that the 70/2 is said to be the better lens, performance-wise. No wonder, it looks like a perfect ULTRON type. But it is quite longish for the same reason. The 60/1.5 (which design looks quite intractable) is more compact, but I want to see for myself how it looks on my black FT...

How about using the 60? It looks big, but not unmanageably so... I'll bet the view is bright and snaps in/out of focus decisively. How is the "look"? I seem to recall seeing one at Kevin Cameras for $695?? Ouch.

Who can share experiences using the 70mm Pen lens? Frank? Roland?

Guess this might be the place to go "woo-hoo!" about pushing the BIN button on eBay for a 70mm f/2 F.Zuiko. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...PageName=STRK:MEWA:IT&ih=018#ebayphotohosting

Somewhat on the pricey side, but less than the three Kevin Cameras is offering. I think his least expensive one is $400 but no hood, caps or case. Someone else on eBay has the correct hood alone for $69. The 70 takes the same 43mm filters as my other Pen lenses. Focuses down to .8m and stops to f/22. It's much smaller and more convenient to use than adapting an 85mm Takumar (58mm filter size!). I just hope the eBay lens arrives as clean as the auction pics show. Ok, enough justification. 🙂

I notice some of these 70mm lenses have serial numbers starting with 100 and some start with 200... any significance to that?

It images a 24-deg angle of view, about the same as a 105mm lens for "double-frame" cameras. Think of the classic 105mm Nikkor, only a half stop faster... Maybe that half stop making its wide-open DoF similar to the 105's?

Of course I'm already anticipating its arrival and considering subjects; it will take some thinking, since I don't often use longer lenses like this.

I use a Pentax 50/1.4 SMC on my FT. It is less expensive than the 60/1.5, and most likely, the 50/1.4 is a better lens overall.

Still, the 60/1.5 looks cool.

Thanks. At the moment I think about downsizing my collection a bit, but not the Olympus PEN F stuff... it's simply too good, too small, lightweight and joy to use..
