Thanks. I spotted this at the Cricket Centre across the road from work as I was leaving this afternoon ... and several more on the drive home at various locations. One at the gates of a school.

I didn't get the connection until I saw the title here, Keith (as opposed to the Flickr post). Too many good ones die young.

I just might mention for non Aussies that there was a movement after Phil Hughs's unfortunate death that they called 'put out your bats' .... and they have been everywhere. It really has been a very touching tribute.
Our Australian skipper Michael Clarke has been overcome with emotion every time he has faced the media and to be the Aussie captain you have to be a fairly tough individual ... so hats off to him for showing true emotion.
R.I.P Phillip Hughes.

Thanks for the explanation. We got the news in Italy but was difficult to relate the photo to the event.
A sad accident, RIP Phil.

Speaking of the bowler IMO he may now be a spent force. The bouncer is a big part of the game and the ICC have no intention of changing their current rule of two per over maximum. Fast bowlers rely on short pitched balls to unsettle batsmen and it's been that way for as long as I've been a cricket follower.
Can Sean Abbott now use this approach comfortably? I would seriously doubt it ... I couldn't!
