I am trying to code my Zeiss 25mm Biogon using Match Technical Lens Decoder kit I got from PopFlash. I want to use the 6bit code for the Leica Elmarit 28mm 2.8 asph lens which I was told works best with the zeiss 25mm.
I have tried 4 times using the decoder kit, black pen, but can't get it to work. Is there a secret to get this to work?
I also sent an email to jm@milich.com a few days back but never heard back from him.
Any advice, I like to use the lens a lot but it's a pain to remember to switch the code on the m9 manually.

Thanks

Steven

I use the ZM 25/2.8 on my M9. Fantastic lens. Mine is not coded at all. I set the lens manually in the camera to the Leitz 24/2.8. Works great! No magenta edges.

With my 25 Biogon the 24mm Elmarit ASPH setting does still get a little magenta. The 28 Elmarit setting is meant to be best for a balance of vignette and colour shifts.

What I think is causing you the headache is the framelines your lens brings up. If it is bringing up the 35mm framelines (as required to be a 24mm ASPH) then it won't take the 28mm coding. If you manually switch your framelines to the 28/90 framelines you should notice that it is registered as the 28 Elmarit. I use cornerfix nowadays.

Hi Steven,

I've had more than one sample of the Zeiss 25mm in the past and once coded as a 24mm (since lens brought up coorisponding frameline) to allow coding as a 24mm...the other lens was coded as a 28mm as it brought up the 28mm framelines. In both instances, no red edge was detected in my particular samples..so it may depend on sample lens/camera combination which coding/mount is better. (Just sent you a detained e-mail too). Thanks.

I also had the coding problem with my Zeiss 21/2.8 for a while. Try many black pen/paint/ink and none of them work at all. I even code the white part, but that makes no difference. After think about for a while, I decide to manually set the frame selector to 28/90 and try agin. It works! I guess one must have the right coding and right frame selected for the coding to work. You may have the same problem.

Update
Since my 25 zeiss brings up 24/35 lines on my M9 I tried using the 24 elmerit code
I got it to work once but when I took the lens off and put it back on no luck
I'm not sure this is a problem but where one of the marks go is right on one of the mount screws
