.72 finder to .58?

Thanks Keith. Thanks Jaap.
And I would like to add that I am convinced that the whole issue was not in bad faith, so I would like to tone down any stronger qualifications I used in the heat of the argument.

MS-MAG x0.85 User Experience

Keith, if you are like me, you will not find it easier to see the 28mm framelines. For me, the .85 minifier did not change how easy it was to view the framelines, it only made the finder slightly dimmer, distorted, and required that your eye be perfectly centered to see anything. I am sorry to say that that is my honest evaluation.

Hi every RF friends,

I've been viewing this precious forum, harvesting great ideas here though have not contributed any comment yet. I first realized the MS-MAG x0.85 in the pnet forum where StruartR laid a thread earlier this year. As I wear glass, use my 0.72 MP and love the 28 view so much as an ideal travel & street lenses, I thought the MS-MAG x0.85 must be my salvation which will eventually relieve me on the 28 framelines. I called on my Japan friend and he bring me one from Tokyo direct.

After playing with it time after time, thinking am I in some way misuse this little gem. To the present moment, I fully second what StruartR testified. It does NOT help to bring the 28 framelines tighter. It makes no difference to let me see the 28 easier. Instead, the viewfinder looks dimmer and the focusing patch may disappear if you are not centered on the VF. This is my experience, of course, it is disappointing . Hope my feedback may bring benefits to our folks here.

Best
Matthew

I will try to find out and understand why it works for some people and not for others. Is it an optical property or personal taste of users?

The manufacturer is a very reputable firm with a lot of involvement in the Japanese Leica community and plenty of good products. There is certainly no attempt to sell snake oil of any sort.

I had this item for a few days, it is only made for and will fit Leica M. This eye piece did not not work at all, no matter how it was adjusted. I was hoping that it would reduce the view so I could see the edges of the 28mm framelines a little easier on my .72 MP and M7. It did nothing at all. Dirk at Megaperls was gracious enough to accept my return and refund my money. Plese note, the item I bought was advertised as "reducing" the view through the finder. It is not a magnifier.

I have been talking to a lot of people trying hard to establish why this does not work for some people. At the moment I believe it has to do with 0.72 or wearing glasses.

I don't wear glasses, and it did not work for me on either my .72 or my .85 Leicas. Just my experience. Your mileage may vary.
