75 lux on order!

Hello All,

Well, I can blame it all on merciful for his nice short tele portraits on his site. I am adding a 75 lux mint pre-owned to my 35mm for what I think will be a combination to sustain me for a long time. I thought about a 50+90mm to add, but seeings how I've been shooting exclusively with my 35mm now and found it to be useful for even more tightly cropped shots (getting in closer distance-wise than with a 50mm), I figured it will be my normal lens. But, I do like reach, speed, and portraiture. So to me, the 75 lux will fit the bill. I've had the lens before but had to sell it, so the handling is fine and the imaging is superb. Thought about the 75 cron but I like shooting with mainly ISO 100 and 125 film. Sooo...there we go. There's something Leica zen-like using 2 lenses. ;)

That sounds great, vizioneer, and having had one before I guess you know you'll like it! The 35+75 does seem a useful combination, but I think I might have opted for the Summicron. I have the 75mm Heliar, and that is indeed a nice focal length, I think more useful than 90. Enjoy!

Congratulations! It is a beautiful objective and I agree with you about the joy and freedom of pure speed. I have some great dim "bar shots" with mine that will ensure my lux will never leave my possession... I have yet to pull the plug on a noctilux, but I always seem to have a little voice constantly nagging at me to cough up the dough. Again, enjoy your new toy!

I am very jealous. I almost got the 75 'lux myself, only (yeah, only, it's always "only") an extra few hundred dollars more than the 50 Summilux I just got; both used, of course.

It is a wonderful lens; but I thought about the weight of it...do report about its usage; although if you're not "versed" on shooting with many 50s perhaps you won't know how much of a difference it may really be compared to a "fast" (1.4 or 1.2) 50mm lens.

Wide open, even at f/2 that lens is just Luxaliscious.

Hi All,

Yep I plan to shoot and get a scanner hopefully soon to post some examples. I've used a noctilux before, but ultimately the 75 lux proved to be more useful with my 35mm. I'm just now getting back into Leica M after having completely sold out- 2 M6 TTL's, 35 lux asph, 75 lux, and noctilux all sold unfortunately. But, as luck would have it, I am coming back! My previous noctilux is even available for my purchasing since the owner got a lux asph and prefers it. But, that would be unnecessary with the 35/75.

I may just get a 50mm in the future...

One body and two lenses,,,,,,Hmmmmmmm.......not very practical......!

You can never make up your mind which lens to go for first, and when you want to change, theres no-where to put the other lens, and it's too slow to change lenses, so you either miss the shot or just keep using the same lens.............!

Nope, sorry,.......two lenses = two bodies, - no doubt about it, you'll have to buy another M6,

Then...............you can get that noctilux back as well.........!

Joe's got the right idea..........you can't be seen out in public with less than 3 Canon P's

and lenses !
