75mm summarit bokeh

I posted a problem thread before and thought I should post a "fair" thread too. A few shots with this lens. It is super sharp. Bokeh is decent it seems, but as a new Leica owner, would appreciate hearing from long time users. What is amazing to me about the M8 is that no sharpening is needed at all getting RAW out of the camera. The images are great as is.

Not bad but things can get better. The background on both is very messy and opening up the apperture would allow you to loose a lot of this and really assess the bokeh. Second shot the animal looks over exposed on my monitor so detail is lost and i can not really assess sharpness. A bit more contrast would also help (could be my monitor). M8 files need very little post processing but unless using high ISO id turn the noise reduction off in Capture 1. This and a slight increase in contrast sharpens up enough generally without addening any post processing sharpening. Also remember 75 on an M8 is actually about 100mm so make sure you keep the shutter speed something decent as well (again open up the apperture inless the background is vital. Also I would generally set the M8's meter to under expose by about 1/3 stop for the best overall exposures. (a bit more for white animals in bright light!!)

Thanks for the input. I'm aware of DOF and exposure - I posted it more for the lens characteristics but I guess I've to be careful what I post - I had also put some pictures initially that were shot wide open in this post, but they were of my wife and I had to take them off because she was upset I posted them. Also, these were taken from quite a distance so I was actually playing using the distance markings and had to put it in a range. Points well taken though!
 
Is that a Great Pyrenees? My parents have one. She is a total pussy. The cat kicks her ass every day and steals her food!

I just got my Summarit 75 two days ago. I never had any luck with 85 or 90mm lengths, so I thought I'd give 75 a try. I liked the idea of it being a 'tight 50'.

So far, I like it. My initial impression is that this lens is a built for sharpness. The OOF areas are well handled but never abstracted. Anyhow, just posted a few shots with the Summarit on my M9 in the gallery. Enjoy.



In the second photo, I've managed to toss the background pretty well OOF, but it still retains a clarity. So far, I think the Summarit 75 has found a home in my walk-around kit.
