7Artisans for Fuji X

Interesting,

Looks like they took inspiration for the scalloped barrel from the Rokkor 45/2.8 LTM.

I wish they would give us another M mount option.

Since the 50mm on a 35mm film camera was never one of my favorite focal lengths, I never even bothered to get a Fujinon 35mm f/1.4 or 35mm f/2 for my APS-C Fuji X camera.

The 7Artisan manual focus 35mm f/1.2 is very close to tempting; but based on the image quality I have seen from the 7Artisan 50mm f/1.1 lens for the Leica rangefinder, I think I will wait for Fuji to produce a reasonably priced f/1 "Noctilux" type 35mm lens.

What's wrong with the 50/1.1? It's a $350 lens, you can't expect anything special. This lens, for $150, is going to be better than anything else you'll be able to find for even double the cost. Fuji has been "talking" about doing an f/1 lens for a long time but it's never happened. Even if they do release one, it'll be really large and not "reasonably priced."

There is nothing wrong with the 7Artisian 50mm /1.1. I just need a lens that produces a certain amount of image quality when shot wide open. The image quality (resolution, contrast, barrelling, and vignetting) of the 50mm f/1.1 at f/1.1 is not suitable for me.

If I must stop the lens down to get a decent image, I might as well get a Voigtländer 50mm f/1.5, a Zeiss 50mm f/2, or a Leitz 50mm f/2. Sure they will cost me more and not gather as much light; but they will at least give me the image quality I want when shot wide open.

I dunno about that, this thread shows some lovely image quality pics made with the 7Artisans and a Sony A9 (i think)

Right now, I am using the following three adapted lenses on my Fuji X body.

35mm f/1.4 Zeiss
35mm f/1.4 Nikon
35mm f/2 Nikon

A Fuji 35mm f/1 with auto focus, shutter priority exposure control, and auto exposure control would probably have a better chance than the 7Artisan 35mm f/1.1 manual focus lens for replacing the three lenses I am currently using.

I find it very special and it is my favourite lens on Leicas - including my Asph 50 1.4 Lux, ZM 50 1.5, ZM 50 2.0, CV 50 1.1, CV 50 2.5, Summicrons....

I like it so much I have one in each colour!
:D
