The Nikon DK-21M Magnifying Eyepiece slips onto the R & R2 rectangular eyepiece. It's rated at 1.17x. It works great for 50 & 90 mm and increases the effective rangefinder base length. I wear glasses and have to my eye around to see the 35mm frame lines, but I think it's worth the $25 cost.
P.S. I love the 'R' and am using it with the 25/4 & 35/2.5 Skopars, 50/3.5 Heliar, and 100/3.5 Canon.

Thanks for the tip. The Bessa R is my mainstay camera because it's just so light and easy to carry everywhere. This should make focusing the 90mm lenses easier. I wonder if I can push it to focus my 135mm lenses with....

Sorry about the 135mm f/4

Sorry about the 135mm f/4

Searching around for Erwin Puts' article on Leica rangefinder accuracy (found at http://leica-users.org/v04/msg07362.html),
it seems that for a 135mm f/4 lens, and effective base length of 45.6mm is required.

The Bessa R with the Nikon magnifier gives an effective baselength of 29.4mm (37mm x 0.68 x 1.17), which is still inadequate (in theory).

Oh well!

This sounds ideal...I'm curious as to how well the piece stays on? I've used other Nikon non-magnifying eyecups that fall off regularly enough for me to stop using them all together.

The DK-21M magnifier fits perfectly and tightly. However, it only fits the models with a rectangular eyepiece (R & R2).
