I found this link for a .85x "magnifier" for a Leica. Could something be fashioned for the R-D1? Would it be beneficial?

Anybody?
Anybody?
Would the .85x widen the field of view on the rangefinder so a wide lens could be focused and viewed sans an aux finder?

possibly if there was frame lines for that lens, it seems that if you tried hard enough you would be able to find a way to fit that to an rd1, or maybe there already is some sort of reduce magnification eye piece

Well-known
There is an adapter to use Leica Magnifiers and diopters on a Konica Hexar RF. Actually, it is designed to use a third party magnifier on the Konica, but the third party Magnifier screws into the leica eyepiece. I am going to put in a Leica eyepiece into the adapter, screw it on to the Konica in place of the eyepiece and screw the magnifier or diopter into the leica eyepiece.. Quite convoluted but as I have a RF and an extra Leica eyepiece and both a .85 and a 1.25 magnifier, I ordered one to try. As I remember they say it will work on some Nikons, so you may want to figure it out. It is on the Megeperls site at http://www.unicircuits.com/shop/ Dirk has been really helpful and the magnifier they sell has an adjustable diopter built in.
Hope I did not confuse anyone, because I'm getting a little dizzy re-reading this.
