90mm alternatives to the Summicron - either M or LTM

Well, the Apo Lanthar arrived this morning and it's mint. Some bits of dust but no haze in the lens at all, and cosmetically could have been made yesterday. So nice to get something in better condition than even advertised. It's light, small, beautifully made if a more silver shade of chrome than the M3.

It even has the same filter size as my other Leica lenses and the lens cap fits over it. Just delicious and the Voigtlander 28-90 adapter fits perfectly (apart from now lacking an M mount lens holder)

Now for a few tests!

I thought you were supposed to be "de-gassing", Charles? It doesn't sound like a 100% successful process! 😉 (Pay no attention... it's only sheer envy talking. 😀). Seriously, I'd be interested to see how it performs, if you're inclined to post a few example shots. Not that I'm in the market for buying yet more gear, of course.

On the subject of buying gear, I paid to a visit to our friendly local camera shop today, and managed to escape without spending any more than I actually went there to spend! Quite an achievement, I reckon. 🙂

I'm net down, and got a long list to follow. As to test photos my first outing with the M3 would have been more productive if it had had a film in. But it looked better on it than the M5.

He's always got something I want that man!

Yes, he gets some interesting kit in that shop. I fear for my bank balance each time I go through the door. 😀

My fave small, super light and super sharp 90mm is the f4 Elmar-M 3 element version.

Here's a couple of handheld shots on an M9. If you click the image and go to the link, you can see the full size photo. The detail, particularly in the second shot, is pretty nice, especially for such a tiny, lightweight lens. It's not much bigger than a fat cigar.
