90mm Cron works on Epson?

I tried a friend's 90mm pre-asph E55 on my Epson before and it didn't work well with the focus arm (I saw the warning in Rich's website). However this time i try the older E48 v2 cron and it seems to work. Anyone else has experience the same? Someone can shred a light on my how the focusing movement of these 2 lenses differ?

F/2 is too fast for the R-D1's rangefinder whose effective base length is only 38mm whilst it should be 60mm for a 90mm lens at f/2. Don't expect high hit rates at faster apertures than f/3.5 unless you use a magnifier.
