Thinking of purchasing this as a portrait lens for my M8. Im a bit concerned about the wieght. Also, seeems to have a tripod mount attached. Is that standard, or added?

Yep go to gym train with weights, the lens will feel light eventually.
The tripod mount is standard with the f/2 90mm and f2.8 135mm, if you want to clean the rear surface it is easy to unscrew the whole optic from the focusing mount.

Check to see what version. Mine is from the mid 80's and there is no mount. Older 90/2s have a mount but they are much larger. I know that the 90 'cron I have was made in Canada.

They are heavy as well. you need helium in the Gbag after a few hours.

Naah, heavy is my Chrome Nikkor 85/2. I'm looking for a black one for that very reason, way too heavy for day in day out. Same with the FSU 85mm lenses, very chunky.

My Canadian made 90mm f/2 Summicron does not have the tripod mount.

Mine doesn't have a tripod mount either, nor do I need one, easy to handhold. It's big but it's not huge. It's heavier and bigger than any other 90 that I have, but downright diminutive compared to some of my SLR lenses.

Mine has. E48, Canada, built-in hood, removable head, presumably the
2nd most heavy M lens that Leitz has built (after the 135/2.8). Nice bokeh though.
Glad it has the tripod mount, would hesitate to use the M3 with
that lens on a tripod via baseplate.

My 90 f2 is the E55 Canada Type 3 version. Compact - 3 inches long (3.7 with hood extended). I don't find it too heavy.
