Aaaah yes, the blacks.... I don´t find the print quality bad in the book, because it pronounces the "gritty & grainy" aspects of that journey. Fine print quality, an elaborated tonality, of course is different, but not necessarily better in this case. A fine print is meant for eternity, a train journey is not.

It is a bit annoying that you have to sign up and register to every place whenever you just want to buy something, though.
 
My copy arrived today.

Really enjoyed the pictures but wondered if one or two were out of sequence. Agree about the blacks, but so what?
Agree about the double page spread but this is more obvious in certain places in the book where the pages are inevitably tighter due to the way the book is constructed.
The double page spread is good for the usual digital format - one good reason for adopting that approach. I do find the pictures big and got more out of them holding the book nearly at arms length.

My other half wanted to know where the places were and a map to plot the journey, even so she wants to have another longer look at the pictures - must be a successful venture!

I'm going to try something similar but in colour - this Blurb paper is better for some colours than others but I think photos will need to be processed with both this format and the paper in mind.

'-9289-' will remain on my book shelf to be dipped into for inspiration.

Wow. That is really nicely done and you are not kidding about "gritty and grainy". 😀 Seriously, looks great.

And thanks for the tip re: the trade book. I've used Blurb before but not this format, well worth a whirl I think!
