A 21 for the M-P?

My motorcycle sold, so I decided to use some of the proceeds for... a 21/3.4 Super Elmar. It's only money.

If you're using the EVF why not an SLR lens? I use a 20mm Nikkor on my 240 and I'm very happy with it and I'm sure you can find one you like.
Unfortunately my f4 Super Angulon isn't really ideal on a digital camera.

I considered that, but my current MF Nikkor 20 is in bad shape and the 20/1.8G I want to get won't work on an adapter. Besides, the SEM has a look that I really like and gets great reviews. It'll last me the rest of my life.

Congrats, Ken, you'll like it I think. I recently sold both my 4.5/21 C-Biogon and 2.8/21 Elmarit ASPH to fund a new 3.4/21 SEM... It seems the more recent Leica formulations are made to work better on digital sensors. They all work fine on the M8 but I wasn't happy with the two older 21's on full-frame. Enjoy!

Doug, I hope I like it! I've spent a small fortune on gear lately, but I'm getting to the end - just two more lenses for the Nikons and I think I'm done. What I need to do is the selloff of surplus stuff!

Do you have your SEM yet? I really gave serious thought to a late six bit 21/2.8, but the character of the SEM photos I found on the web converted me. It seems like it has a similar signature to my 35 Cron ASPH which I like.

Yes, it arrived in February from PopFlash. There are some shots with it in my RFF gallery.

A good 21 is something I keep telling myself I want. The SEM is of course of great interest to me but I know it's a focal length that's more of an outlier for me personally. I've tried the 21 f/4 a couple times and wanted to enjoy it but I just never did.

I tried the 21 Ultron as well and though I actually really liked the quality and rendering of the lens I did not care for the size / weight of it (much like the 35 1.2 which I felt the same about).

I haven't tried either of the Zeiss options personally, but I was not at all disappointed in any of the ZM lenses I tried in the past.

Someday I'll figure out the right solution. I hope the SEM is spot on for you Ken!
