Would a 35mm viewfinder be a better idea than a 28mm one for close focus shooting? I never photograph with focus at infinity: only street, prefocused at 6-8 feet & f/8-f/11... I just imagined I'd better buy a 35mm viewfinder instead of a 28mm one to make sure subjects are inside the frame... Wouldn't it work better this way? Thanks!

Cheers,

Juan

If precise framing is not a critical issue, then the short answer is "yes".
I use a Leica M2 sans external VF with a 28mm lens that way.
It's somewhat sloppy, but OK for street shooting.

Just buy the mini finder already, Juan :)

Thanks for being here, Roland!

I confess I really envy that small 28 Leitz finder on your Barnack... I even tried to find it -dreaming of a good price- on that great camerawest link you gave me back then... But I couldn't find one, and ebay prices for it are too much... :(

I'm planning to spend close to $200 for a CV one or any other good option... I like the minifinder a lot, but it's a bit expensive... I'm needing cash for lots of things next month because I'll be in Key Biscayne from November 18 to 29, basically to be part of the Thanksgiving Day sales...

Yet I hope I can find a small 35mm one, though I know it won't be easy... Thanks for any advice!

Cheers,

Juan
