a 50mm for my lovely IIIg

I ve bought a IIIg (only the body) and just when I've opened the package it has been love at first sight :angel: . Who owe one understands me. It comes from a serious dealer and mech seems in order, just some vulcanite missing here and there...
Now I'm looking fo a good 50 mm but 1999 summicrons cost an arm and a leg. so I'm forced to look between historical as collassable summicrons, elmars, summitar with the alternate of nokton who'll be probably my choice. Anyone of you has some hint for buyinq something good?

If you are only getting one 50mm lens for this camera, I suggest a collapsible Summicron as a good all-round performer.

In August I purchased my collapsible Summicron (CLA'd) from Sherry Krauter:

The other day I saw a reasonably priced collapsible Summicron (LTM) and Elmar (LTM at this place:

They needed some cleaning, and I'm sure a CLA would bring them up to current prices.

If the lens needn't be from Leitz, consider a Canon 1.8 or 1.4 or a Nikkor 1.4 of f2. I'm using a the 1.4 Nikkor on mine, a nice compact lens.

I think some of the older leica lenses are some of the best.. most have that beautiful Bokeh and glow..

A good lens but pretty large for a Barnack Leica, even a IIIg.

If you want an F1.5 lens, look for a Canon 50mm F1.5.
