A call for websites

Every once in awhile I ask you if you have found any photo websites that were especially useful to post links to them. I’m putting out the call again, but my own contribution is a little strange. I’m going to recommend a pay site. While the author, an experienced and good photographer, writes on a broad range of topics, the largest part of his output concerns rangefinder cameras and, in the last few years, the bright line viewfinder cameras from Fuji. More important is the quality and exceptional thoroughness of his evaluations and his intelligent perspective on how we use cameras along with an abundance of test shots and field work that increase our understanding of his writing. As a crotchety old person I find many photo websites relatively useless. I find this one exceptionally useful. Many of you will already be familiar with it. If you scroll to the bottom of its opening screen you will find instructions on subscribing and a number of articles you can view to preview the site. Take a look - and be sure to post the websites that you find useful.

Many thanks. Here’s mine.

I visit Sean's site sometimes, but mainly when I'm in shopping mode, which isn't often these days. I also enjoy his non-gear essays and revisit them once in a while. I mean articles like "Photographing Strangers" and "Photographing People We Know."

I'd much rather read thoughtful writing about photography than about gear, and recommend the NYT On Photography magazine.

Not a web site, but I really enjoy the M Magazine app on my iPad.
