A camera you sold and then regret you did?

A Nikon F3Hp, way more than selling my M2 or M8....

Most regretted, is the Mamiya Universal Press with the 100/2.8.
Next is the Super Technika, followed by the Rolleiflex 2.8 E2 Zenotar. I basically traded them all for food (survial).

In 1986, while visiting friends in Chicago, I bought an M3 with 50/2 Summicron from Oak Park Camera and took it back to Arizona. Having been an SLR guy all of my photographic life, I just could not get used to the rangefinder system and sold it after a year.

This act is on a long list of stupid things I've done in my life.

As a kid in high-school, I was lucky enough to find a black Minox B in a pawn shop (some spy down on his luck?).

Alas, I was never happy with any of the pictures I took with it so I sold it. Never seen another like it.

None, really.

There's not a single camera I've ever owned that I'd USE more than anything I own today. I'd quite like my old Tessina back for interest's sake, likewise my Dawe 5x4 press. And my 500C was nice, with the 80/2.8. For that matter there was my Technika 70 with 100/2.8 Planar. But I sold them all because I had other cameras that I USED more (and still do, in some cases).

In fact, I wouldn't mind getting rid of another 10-20 cameras.

I understand completely!

I once owned flawless black Nikon FT3 and Pentax MX bodies I sold for the same reason.

FWIW I now happily use a chrome MX, purchased in used and pre-scratched condition. 😉

Probably the worst mistake I made was in selling my Bessa R & Canon 35/1.8; that was a very sweet combination.

Really NEEDED to pay for an education, but I'm sure I will never get that camera again. I don't care much for the available-in-abundance TTL version (wrong way round shutter dial...) and the Non-TTL was made in less than 3500 ex. ...

Recently I broke the bank and the christmas bonus over a beater M2, to make up. Love it, but the M6 still is missed.

I don't miss cameras I sold since the ones I don't want to sell (there are 4 of them that I acquired about 35 years ago) are still in a small 'cabinet' called Museum 🙂 These are not cameras you can use, but once a while must be cleaned and are just nice to look at.

What I regret is not been able to buy a camera many years ago in Germany at a camera fair, when I couldn't draw any money with my Dutch bank card on a sunday afternoon. It was a rare wooden tropical camera, but forgot about the name.

And although I am very found about my Leica gear, I wouldn't mind selling, since I like to completely change my gear after some years of use. Already sold my Leica III, IIIc, IIIf BD, IIIf BDST, M2, M4-2, M6 classic, M6 TTL and M7. If I want one back I only have to look at the internet.

I have two that I really miss. The first is the my original M3DS, I think one should never part with their first Leica. The second is the 5DMkII simply for the low light capabilities. I can't say I regret selling them, but I do think about them often.

I have never sold a camera (but I do need to thin out the collection). I have given a couple or three to my oldest daughter a one to her fiance. But that isn't the same. She likes her digital but still sometimes uses her ST 801 which I lent her, and she loves it to death. Wouldn't think of giving it up (good for her!).

My first 35mm SLR, a Miranda "G". It was unreliable. I traded it for a Yashica "A" TLR which I later donated to a charity. I regret that move also.

Mint, and I don't say that lightly, DS M3, that had also just had a CLA. I used it for a summer, loved it. Was in NYC and wanted to stay another half week, so I sold it to Tamarkin and regretted soon after. I even emailed them to see if they still had it but it was gone. Stupid move. Even wih an M6 and another M3, I still kick myself thinking of that.
