Since January, I have been sending my "better" (digital) photos out to be printed. I have been amazed how great this experience is. I matte and bag each one (all 8X10, matted to 11X14). I'd guess that I have 80 of these now, and I love 'em. (some go back a few years!)

Now I am producing a new good print about every 2 or 3 weeks, but the collection has pleased me enormously. I recommend that everyone give this a shot, at least for a dozen of your favorites and see how it feels.

Fantastic! Good on you for making that commitment. I finally got around to printing again and nothing beats holding a photo in your hand.

I have a darkroom that is well equipped, but as it also serves as the laundry and my wife has retired I am finding alternative demands and dust control to be issues that are stopping me from using it (until I figure something else out).
So I'm scanning my negs and printing on the Epson R2880. I have to say the results are very pleasing. I only do B&W - from preference.

I have a box of prints which I pull out and look at from time to time and the best ones I mat with white board and back with foamcore but don't frame. I have a little gallery space on a wall in the house where I can display six prints of around 8x10 and four 11x14. I change the prints over every month or two. I use the same mounting method for entry into my camera club's monthly competitions (when the subject suits me - I don't like "open" competitions).

I'm pretty happy with that arrangement. But something you might like to look at for a really ambitious project and that is to go to the Lenswork site and see what can be done with the Folio concept that Brooks Jensen has there. I bought the DVD and it's my ambition to start doing something like that before too much longer. Maybe you should start there, rather than aim lower and have to change later as I'm going to have to do.

For the people who print in the darkroom, if you need a little extra motivation consider joining the monthly print exchange over on FADU. It gives me a monthly target of at least one better-than-average print, and the chance to see other people's work and papers I haven't used.
