l must admit 50mm lenses have been my staple focal length for many years. mind you l grew up in a period where 50mm primes were considered the 'standard lens'.

50mm lenses are terrific. They must be as I own so many. Some are pretty fast and some are actually fairly slow. They are all fun.
However, the one I enjoy working with the most is the Pentax M 40/2.8. There is really nothing technically special about it, I just like the viewpoint.
a cool lens, l always used to shoot mine at 5.6

I wouldn't find this to be concerning, it's perfectly acceptable to favor a focal length. At the end of each year I go through my Lightroom metadata and look at which focal lengths I tend to favor that year. Unfortunately I don't have all my film data logged so I expect they're slightly varied from what I am seeing. I also tend to try out lots of various equipment but unless I've taken over 100 images with something I don't really pay attention to it.
For this year I found that 50mm was far and away my favorite. It tends to be at or near the top though to be honest, and really I'm also not surprised that 28 and 35mm are so close. I use those three lenses more than anything and pretty much always have. I always come back to that setup even when I stray and try new things. Doing this also helps me decide if I'm using something enough to warrant keeping it. In this case, I wound up selling my 90mm this summer, and I only just recently purchased the 21mm so it hasn't had a chance to catch up!

I started thinking last night (I know. . . bad idea) then this morning I checked, and yes, by a huge margin over the last 45 years, including recently, my best photos have been shot with a Leica and 50mm lens. Mostly a collapsible Summicron.
I understand you pain...for me I think that a lot of this syndrome also is tied to the viewfinder...on an M3 the 50 frame is normal perspective...where as with an M5, M6 or M7 the 35mm frame seems normal. And the 50 frame seems almost Sub-Tele
So if I shoot with the M3 the 50mm is only focal length, and 35 for any of the other bodies. I had an Nikon S3 and the 50 on that body had the same effect.
You seem to have found your sweat spot....so now just enjoy find what so many never come to understand.

And judging from his flickr, that certainly holds true for the OP. Fine work, Michael!Don't fall into such traps by dividing your photos between cameras and lenses, get a second opinion.
The camera might vary but the photographer is the same, and its the photographer who decides what to photograph, not the camera.
