A dull day for IR

IR works best, IMO, when the sun shines. Sadly, today it decided to stay away.

These are CV Ultron 28mm at f2.5, 1/15th at ISO 1600 hand held on my way up to the shops. Hoya R72 filter, channel mixed to about 80% green, 20% blue to bump the contrast. I lose about 2 stops doing that over a straight greyscale, as most of the IR ends up in the red channel, but it's often very noisy and flarey so I usually throw it away.

I just got an offer today for my R-D1, and I'm in shock a bit. Will I actually be able to say goodbye to it? Gulp...

... expect some tear-stained lenses to show up in the classifieds soon 🙁

Hello RD-1 users, I've bought Phil's RD-1, which should be coming in the post in a few days. I'm very excited to get it and am checking the Track & Trace website every day...

I have several Leica M bodies, and already have a few lenses that I can use with the RD-1. I don't plan to stop shooting film.

My main aim of getting the RD-1 is to shoot pictures of my kids and family occasions - subjects that I have been shooting either with a canon digital p&s (okay, but can't get nice shallow depth of field effects or manual control) or shooting on film (too much delay between shooting and the final result - I still have negatives of my first kid that were shot in 2001 that I haven't had time to scan yet...)

I contemplated getting a Canon digital SLR for a while, but chose the RD-1 so I can utilise the investment I've already made in good glass. I also like the fact that the RD-1 is smaller and more discrete.

I plan to learn to use the RD-1 by initially shooting with a 35mm pre-ASPH summilux, a 50mm pre-ASPH summilux, and the CV 40mm Nokton.

Hopefully, I'll post some of my first photos in the next weeks!

those are nice phil... can't believe you let the R-D1 go... I'm so happy I have mine, but I can see why people are selling theres.
