A fair price for a Yashica 124 G

I recently bought a yashica 124 G, the seller said that the camera was in top condition, fully working as the llight meter. I spent 150€ on it. I was expensive or, a good price?

Did I experiment the camera or saw it in hand, no! I bought in Germany "evil bay".

Until you actually see the camera, you will not know. Such is the mystery of ebay!

$150 US for a 124G in very good condition and fully working is a fair price. I've seen them go for much more, and I've seen them going for less, but if yours is in good condition and working, you've done well.

Here's to hoping that the seller was honest and you are out shooting right away!

Well, if the camera is indeed in top condition, than it is really a very fair price.
I am using a Mat 124G as well, mine is in excellent condition, and I have to say it is worth more than 150€.

Its about right. 150 - 200 is a realistic retail price. Ive seen nice ones for 100-120 occasionally but thats up to the seller if they want to underprice things

I think it is a good deal. Got my 124 (non G) for 115E but it needed a 185E CLA... And yes, it was worth every damn cent. Used it last week as a snapshot camera in India... after my M2 experienced an intimate moment with a slab of concrete 🙁

The seller send it wednsday, I should receive the camera next week. I am looking for replacements for the batteries.

I've paid 250$ for a boxed and never used example, and even fully working too, at a local sale.

I bought mine new in about 1986 and I still have it, though it doesn't get much use these days. I seem to recall it cost about £120 then. It's a great camera and that seems a fair enough price to me.

What I do find outrageous though is the prices being charged for the Lubitel TLR. I had one of these before the 124g and found it rubbish (this was pre-Lomography days) but as it only cost about £16 new I didn't mind too much.

Now I see them going for around £80 on e-bay and new ones are £275 at the Lomography store. That is seriously bad value - the 124g is infinitely better.

Mind you, I did see a tourist near St Paul's in London the other day with one and she was a young, stylish woman too, so what do I know?

I bought a 'mat recently for around $140 and it is in great condition. I think that the important parts are: does it work as described? and is it nice to use. My Yashicamat is a delight to use and the pix are great...don;t care what I paid for it. Happy shooting!

"Not great" is probably selling them short. I think they are very good, and fantastic for the price. I have a mint Rollei 2.8F that is better, sure, but it is not 6 to 8 times better... But it costs that much more.

A reasonable price for a working Yashica Mat 124(G) in the States is anywhere from $80-350. For a truly mint one, it might be more. It really depends on if you get lucky on eBay or if you buy from a reseller. If you buy one that needs a CLA that is going to cost you another $165 with Mark Hama. I have had him work on one of mine and he did a great job. But I would rather spend more on one that doesn't need a CLA (yet).

Got the camera today. First inspection reveal all fine. Clear optics and the shutter fires in all speeds. Next step, buy a battery to check the lighmeter and begin shooting!
