A few weeks in...

... on my second R-D1, which is perfect. Pulling the cash together for a Summilux 1.4 Asph...

Here's a few pictures from an amateur/beginner... a vertical of New York newstand proprietors.

I love the way this camera captures colour. These shots were taken with a Voigtlander 35mm Nokton F1.2 - mainly shot at F1.4/1.8.

Incidentally, I find the 28mm frame lines closer to reality than the 35mm frame lines for this 35mm lens - anybody else notice?

i think the actual image captured is a bit wider than the frame lines show. i did a test with my a 28mm on my rd1 and a 28mm on my 20d (same crop factor) and the shots with the rd1 were definitely wider, by more than i expected.

i was going to sell my rd1 but didn't get any takers so i've been working on getting back to my old style of shooting before autofocus, matrix metering, the whole lot. i'm beginning to really love the rd1 and am glad no one else wanted it. especially for low light situations. still working on faster focusing (i wear progressive lenses) and sometimes have a bit of trouble finding the right place to look through my glasses. the angle at which i look through the viewfinder with glasses also affects the visibility of the rangefinder patch. still working on that one.

I found it easier in the end to push my glasses up and use a diopter eyepiece on the R-D1.
