I should have known that if there would be anyone on RFF who owned a Lancia Fulvia, it would be you! Is it the Fanalone version?
The pic reminds me of when I had parked my erstwhile 1974 Saab Sonett III on the street, came back later, and thought, "Wow, that giant minivan is really crowding my car." Then I realized the "giant minivan" was a Mini Cooper...
LOL!
😀
Yes, the Fulvia gets lost in a parking lot behind such enormous cars as a Toyota Corolla or Mini Cooper! It's a teensy car, and shockingly roomy inside for its size. I'm six foot and am completely comfortable in it—plenty of head and leg room. It's a little tight when my passenger is broad shouldered like me, but, hey, we're buddies. ;-)
This one is a standard '67 Fulvia Coupe that's been dressed a bit to resemble the HF rally cars with the correct Campi wheels, rally steering wheel, stripped off bumpers, and some of the HF emblems on grill, transom, and fenders. The engine in it at present is a 1.3L from the 1970ish Fulvia 1.3S version ... I have the original 1.2L engine as well, although it is currently dismantled and needs a complete going through of the parts and reassembly. That may be next Winter's entertainment, although I'm not sure if I'd ever put it back in unless I have some problem with the current engine. Unlikely.
The car was partially restored and the body repainted by the prior owner in the early '00s. I bought it last Spring in "okay" condition, but it was running poorly. Rebuilt carburetors, electronic ignition, electric fuel pump, a good tune up, brakes overhaul, and a few minor other things... I've gotten it up to being mechanically sound now—start and run well, stop well, etc—and pretty reliable. It drives well and is fun to drive! Next on the agenda is some work on the interior, and perhaps a new set of shock absorbers (these aren't totally gone, but they're a bit fluffy). Long term project, no rush.
I had a '67 SAAB Sonnet II and always wanted a III. There's one of them available that I could get if I feel like taking on another car project. Sweet little machines ... But I wanted a Lancia Fulvia Coupe more!
🙂
The gods know I don't need any more cameras, so they motivate me to use my lack of discretion in other entertaining ways.
