Ok, so this is a little embarrassing for me...
For a while, I have been wanting to buy a collapsible lens for my (now fabulous) fed2. To give you the short version of the story, I ended up buying this from a certain auction site, and it just arrived today. Now, looking at the pictures, I can confirm that the thing shown in the pictures is exactly what I got (although "clean and clear" doesn't quite apply), but it isn't m39 mount at all. First of all, the thread has much smaller diameter (I could probably fit the whole thing inside my fed 5). and I don't see any rangefinder-coupling-barrel.

Probably, most of you more experienced guys (and gals) would see that with both eyes closed, but please don't make fun of me.

All I wanted to know is what this thing really is, before I send a complaint to the seller. Taking a closer look, I'm guessing it might be a part of a fed coll. lens, with the mount itself missing.
Any ideas?

You are probably right. It looks as though that is the focussing helical, not the 39mm mount thread.

Nothing to be done except return it unfortunately. Even if you had some scrap parts lying around from another lens it wouldn't be worth fiddling with the collimation etc :-/

I agree with MartinP, what you're seeing as the thread is the focusing helical (which ironically works as the rangefinder-coupling-barrel that you're looking for). The lens is missing one part: the plate with the distance engraving and the l39-screw thread.

Thanks for the replies. I just sent a request back to the seller, for refund etc. Hope it goes well.

I guess this teaches me to buy only from respected sellers, and maybe to shop on the internet with both eyes open.
