Hi Folks,

big long story, blah, blah, blah... i end up owning a little gallery dedicated to photography. knowing the importance of credible gallery exhibition history when you folks are out pitching ideas, projects and writing grants we have worked very hard at showing and supporting credible names. some magnum folks, VII photographers, boreal collective etc this ensuring an exhibit with us actually helps you in the end game.

i am putting out the call for new submissions to fill the new years roster. we are primarily looking for folks working on cohesive bodies of work and find that work with social, political, environmental themes draw the audiences.

currently the model for shows is as follows; we do not charge you to exhibit. sadly, we are not ready to pay you to either. what we do commit to is an 80/20 split on sales to the artist. we charge nothing for you to exhibit and ask for only colour corrected, properly sized digital files. we will have the work printed or, if you are in the area (greater Toronto) you are welcome to come and deliver prints/work with us on printing. we would like very much to bring all the artists here for opening night but this is not feasible under our current pricing structure. with that said, if you care to make the trip, we will put you up and cover all the food, beverages and hospitality you might require. if a formula, with pre-sales, can be put together to help fund you coming we are open to discussing.

we are also looking for photographers to represent. this will be only extended to a small group of photographers but in a nutshell, we are creating an archive of a few photographers to offer print and materials sales. if you think this would sound appealing, drop us a line.

now one might ask, why would i do this when i can just set up a blog of my own and try and sell work? well, the short answer is that we are very connected. and i mean VERY connected. medium's sole purpose is to find new talent and to help them in any way, shape or form to keep working. we will bend over backwards to promote your work and get it in front of the eyes it needs to be in front of. we can't make promises but we will work our butts off.

so, for all you out there eating top ramen and trying to get books published, exhibitions shown and prints sold... drop us a line. i cannot promise miracles and if i say no it doesn't mean it's not good. we have a vert specific audience that actually lays out money for this work and i have to keep them in mind.

cheers and happy holidays!

*please organize your submissions into a pdf contact sheet and attach it to your email. give me a brief rundown on what you are working on, where you would like to go with it and perhaps a CV/BIO

DOUBLE PS; please send emails versus personal messages. sometimes i am not on RFF for extended lengths of time (work).

I wish I had an ongoing project that has actually coalesced into work instead of a bunch of ideas. Right now I'm on the beans and rice diet just trying to survive.

Phil,

I would be interested in going through your work from Iraq and putting something together. Can you email me?

I will email back but sometimes it takes me a day or two ;)

John,

I've been shooting the high school building that I visited myself when in high school and where I worked for a decade. Shot a number of (empty) class rooms, community areas in digital stills, and shot the school grounds in video too, for spacious dimensions. Remarkable to see how little has changed in the 25 years since I left that school and the present.

The school building is about to be demolished, demolition work starts in two weeks.

Would a selection of the images possibly fit the profile of projects you are looking for?

Hi Folks, thanx for all the interests and submissions. I am on the road for a few more days but I will get back to all by the weekend.
