I love scale focus cameras and tonight I bagged a working Minox 35 ML for £25. It will be only of the 'classic' compacts that I tend to carry arround and will sit on the shelf nicely next to my Rollei 35 etc

Of all of the older cameras, this line of gear has proven to be very troublesome.

I think that I bought eight or nine of them through the years, and just one just one has worked correctly. All of the others had faulty shutters and/or faulty meters.

I hope that you got a good one. The lens is quite good, and the shutter is very quiet, sometimes to the point that you aren't sure that it actually fired.

I know what you mean I had a very unreliable 35GT, hopefully this one will be ok, its had only one previous owner who untill last moth shot withit regularly. Fingers crossed

It has been my reliable camera for slide film for many years. The slides come out with vibrant colors and they are very sharp.

I think, there are two kinds of Minox 35's - ones are troublefree and others are troublesome. When buying, ask for first :D

I bought "defect 35 EL" - which I got back to life, but it had broken top cover and I yet managed to fly small spring under shutter release out in the surroundings. Coiled one myself, adjusted contacts, taped top to body, got it working. During test roll cover again managed to get loose as I can't put tape over advance lever. Probably I have to set it on glue.

But I love concept of tiny, aperture priority camera! If you manage to get properly working one, and like 35mm FOV, you'll enjoy it. It definitely is a milestone camera.

I like small pocketable cameras, especially as you can carry them all day long

I see Rollei 35 in your avatar. You state you like small cameras.
Then how about Yashica Electro 35 MC, smallest of the Electro 35 breed? It's small, pocketable scale focus camera with Av exposure, running on current 4SR44 battery (same as some Canon and Yashica SLRs use). I've sold GSN because I have MC. I haven't bought GX because I have MC.

Intrigued? Now open new tab and find one for yourself...or your GAS :)

I've had PL, GT, ML & GL (my current one). Never had a problem, and I absolutely love the lens. Meter is great for slide film, too.

£25? Bargain! I've got a promise of another PL for £20, next time I'm on a bike ride with the seller.

My GT came from a trusted camera repairman here in Pensacola. It was his own camera, so maybe he did a great CLA on it?
