Paixao was a good man, but a bit nutty. Nuttier than most people even.

He loved women, and he loved his camera.

One day he got his pension money (retired street sweeper) and went to the beach.

He photographed three 'Australian' women sunbathing topless.

The camera was a cheap and simple model, he had the eye but not the acquisitiveness.

One of the women offered to take his photo together with her two friends.

He handed over the camera.

And she hurled it into the ocean.

Paixao had money enough for lunch; but instead he spent it on a replacement camera.

That decision speaks volumes.

The funeral is tomorrow.

He leaves behind a secret girlfriend who I must go to find and inform.

True good friends are hard to replace. You put up with their 'nuttiness' because you want and need them as a friend. Paixoa: RIP.

Jon I remember when you first posted this on your site. After reading your story I remember his love for women & cameras. RIP brother photographer! Sorry to read of your loss Jon. Keep shooting those memories & telling those wonderful stories.

in these circumstances it is always difficult for me to find right words. A friend has gone. But memories will stay with you.

Jon,

Your thoughts are prayers are with you and those who knew him. He was a very luck man to have a friend like you, two real loves in his life and be able to retire.
