A great rangefinder bag

there are a few mclassic bag owners here at rff and we have had many good things to say about it.

they are a great bag.
the thing with getting the 'right' bag for yourself is knowing what you want to do with it, how much you plan to carry and your style of shooting.
makes a difference.

I've been thinking of buying a nice little Domke or other bag for my m-setup, but since I have used only Lowepro and Crumpler bags I have a one guestion:

Very often those bags have all kinds of side pockets in different sizes without zippers or velcro etc. Like in that "M-classics" bag... I would be afraid that all kind of small items would be dropping out of the pockets in tight situations. Or am I wrong?

I have the M-classics bag (all black) and it's a great bag!! I have not had any items falling out of these pockets. But then again I don't use them for very small items. Stuff like filters etc and bigger should be fine. (You could always use a little bag to accumulate really small stuf. I sometimes use a little sock of my 4 year old daughter. Works fine and wil stay perfect in your pocket. Works great for my little digicam Pentax Optio W20 too)

Good luck with your choice

I don't have the "M-Classics", but an old "Leica" bag that I think those were based on - I usually kept most of the small stuff in the middle (larger pocket), b/c there was less chance of items falling out if I ever had to blindly fumble for things. The pockets are really deep though, so unless I was running with the flap open, I didn't feel the need to worry about it.

For crowded situations, I do like the Domke's much better - the pockets are more secure, and the metal clasp is very fast. With the "Leica" bag, with the flap open, those pockets are easy targets for pickpockets - and securing the flap can be a pain at times.

Has anyone tried using Tom Binh's Cafe bags? I've considered those, b/c I have their Brain Bag, and it has some real solid construction.

Domke 803

Small, fits 21mm CV, 15mm CV, M7 with 50 Lux, 35 Biogon, my M2 body, Moleskin, pen, marker, a roll or two of film, car keys, wallet, etc. etc. etc.

Velcroed, snapped and zippered in a weather resistant (I haven' tried it out in a full on torrential Brazilian down pour yet) canvas bag that doesn't LOOK like a camera bag.

which is the bigger domke?
the 802 or the 803?

i just got the bigger one and it's way too big for a daily carry camera bag.
but it works great/perfect for a day/work bag with all my crap & a camera in there.
today, i have 3 cameras stuffed in there.
the smaller one might be better as a camera bag.
