A Hasselblad, more than 40 years after first looking.

Off topic update. It seems I’ve landed the role, and at an advantageous wage. Now debating a V-series ‘blad or M246 Monochrom …

Well done. You must have earnt the position. A Monochrom is a lot of fun, less work, and more instant reward, of course. I think you learn a lot with it, and you take different pictures. The Hasselblad is a whole different project, colour and black and white, the square frame, more interaction with the machinery, and also learning a lot, and definitely taking different photographs. Five years apart I got both (first the M Monochrom).

Thanks Richard. It was an exhaustive (and exhausting) recruitment process over 3 months. I certainly feel like I earned it!

As you say, the Monochrom and the Hasselblad are completely different concepts, but each as demanding and potentially rewarding as the other. Ultimately I am fascinated by both since I enjoy the process and mindset of photography at least as much as the results (sometimes more, since I find it so cathartic).

I think it may come down to opportunity in the end. A very nice black 503CX at a local dealer, that I had my eye on, sold last weekend. Then again a mint M246 at the same dealer appeared about a week ago. Still there now … we shall see.

My CFV16 Hasselblad Fat Pixel Digital Back 36x36cm 60mm T* Distagon 500C/M 25th Anniversary P&F 200J Ringflash with Hasselblad Adapter. I used to use this Ringflash for Fashion Photography, back in the day. LOL. Now the CFV16 Digital Back gives me instant gratification. The Flash and Norman 200B pack (two packs actually) went to New York City Flash Clinic (sadly gone SNIFF). They Hot Rodded it to the Norman pack, everything needed adjusting by them, so the flashtube didn't "sparkle" after firing. This until runs off on 12V Dry Cell Batteries, trickle charged. I've replaced the batteries several times, just solder 'em right in. This works great and is an UBER HOOT to shoot with. Many more uses for this thing up ahead. Maybe buy some more cheap batteries, they are available on Amazon.
